Asus Maximus II Formula IMSM Driver
Smaller chunk sizes are poor for performance reading larger files. But I'd assume you already know that. We need to hassle WD, log calls etc, and get them to release a new firmware Endgame While I know that, in general, the k chuck size would be better, my HD tune results are showing much better results at smaller sizes.
Granted not many, or none at all, enterprise systems would be running off an Intel chipset but still I have a fan glued to it which is the same size as the platter and blows directly onto the part of the drive where the platter is. I only use it for games. I had a Hitachi drive and Seagate drive crapp out on me in the summer Never crapped a WD I've crapped a few Quantum Fireballs way back when If that will make a difference I may reconsider. I currently have Asus Maximus II Formula IMSM x Velociraptor gig Asus Maximus II Formula IMSM running in IDE mode on the Intel ICH10r controller, and they've been like that for over a week with no problems at all.
So really its up to you. If you're only going to have one drive, or no raid, then this will do no worries at all.
Just try and find a motherboard that has Asus Maximus II Formula IMSM controller like an extra silicon image chip that supports hot swapping if you plan on using external eSatahdd's a lot. Hopefully we all can push and get a firmware update for the drive soon anyway. WD still hasn't emailed me back. Surely that means something. My 74gb raptors work, my new Caviar Blacks work.
Going to return them. Not worth the entire loss of my weekend over this BS.
Intel Matrix Storage Manager to Intel Rapid Storage Technology
Seems like a Vista bug any how. Add that to the stack of Vista problems.
Damn shame they don't work. I really cant believe the amount of time rying to sort this issue. I finally went back to my old 74gb Raps after days of trying to resolve the issue and they work like a Asus Maximus II Formula IMSM. Damm WD suck arse not releasing a fix for these yet.

Good luck getting an anwser m8 and keep us all posted on developments as I would like to get my VR's working asap. Cheers m8 Codeman05 Just picked up 2 Velociraptors I can't install XP to the drives Just booted each drive Asus Maximus II Formula IMSM no raid into XP and ran WD Diagnostics and both drives checked out fine, so they are not the problem hardware wise atleast. I guess I'm going to try to pickup a raid card now.
Since I'm running Raid 0, I don't need a hardware raid card Thanks guys The Mafia Asus Maximus II Formula IMSM, SSD's are my next upgrade, screw the raptor range. They are small in size and buggy. Yea Asus Maximus II Formula IMSM just ordered a I am all out of ideas for these so am going to go down the raid card root as well. But I like to see what card is good for the job first Codeman05 I don't suppose there is a hardware website that we could get to take up our cause and make a fuss, is there?
My system boots up in maybe 20 seconds now. Vista Ultimate 64 bit here, and running on a dual core.
