Comment 29 Bob Kashani It looks like Adam decided to disable tapping in the synaptics touchpad driver. I would agree with most of the comments here that this change should be reverted back.
Just because a few people don't like tapping doesn't mean that it should be turned off for everyone. A better suggestion would be to implement an easy way maybe via gsynaptics to turn tapping off for the handful of people who don't like it. If it is for accessibility reasons then this is the wrong way of doing it.
The accessibility framework should turn this off when activated. I rebuilt the synaptics pkg and removed Adam's tapping patch if anyone is interested it's here: Comment 30 Adrian "Adi" P. For me problem has been solved earlier by adding to xorg.
