I'll relook some of the components.
I agree its Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Extreme Tuning money than sense. It sickens me that I did what I did, but now i'm excited to see the stupid thing! My current computer is plenty to run just about anything out there, but one of my components wasn't in the top anymore and instead of replacing the one part, I went to the stupid online store and was like a kid in a candy store.
I can afford the wretched thing, but I agree I really don't need most of it. Its purely a 'I wanna have it' buy. I will definitely look at what you said and see if I can't fine tune it.

The idea is to spread a game across three monitors, for an enormous resolution. With the video card and processor changes, I'd recommend switching the power supply to a Corsair AX, too.

That will cost more, but having a lot of SSD capacity is nice to have if you've got an enormous budget. There's a lot of money to be saved elsewhere on the build if you want to.
So until they start building, its mine all mine!!! At least that's how it works in my country. Whatever you do, just make sure you have a big enough and well ventilated chassis for all that stuff.
Attributing the problem to ram, try different CPU etc, etc but no way entertaining may need a bios fix After seeing a number of reports with this same mobo issue thought their response would be Gigabyte are aware of the problem and are working on a bios update Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Extreme Tuning address this problem not the diplomatic protected answer.
This issue only happens with sleep mode if use hibernation the core clock remains at the overclocked settings.
Have searched the web Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Extreme Tuning noticed quite a few people are reporting this same issue surely I can not be the only person emailing Gigabyte tech support reporting this same issue with this model mobo. The fans which are controlled in my user defined method are virtually dead quiet.

I thought it set them a little too conservatively and I manually set them a little tighter. If you have the AI Suite you may want to try the Fast one click tuning. It may give you a more conservative and useable overclock. They give you an idea as to how well the temperature is being controlled.

Yeah, it can be done with some reasonable chance of success if you're willing to invest the time learning and tweaking. Someone who really wants to give a shot can go for it.
But the more casual user who maybe just read a couple of Internet posts about overclocking should really Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Extreme Tuning it a pass Absolutely It bumped the Bclk frequency which I preferred to leave alone and set the CPU voltage needlessly high. I didn't stress test that iteration of the setup since I disagreed with the settings.

I found an overclocking guide written by an Asus guy and followed it to achieve a stable, low volt and low temp setup. After I tested it for a few hours, I did several days worth of photo no video editing and all went well.
